The herbivorous Kairri (pronounced KYE - ree) are creatures of the grassy plains and lightly wooded forests, requiring plenty of range to run, but enough obstacles to lose predators. Their ideal environment includes tall grass, fallen trees, a wide variety of berry bushes, and only narrow rivers - they do not swim very well. They are a wise species, and magical, similar to the Unicorn, though their magic is divided between the sexes. Both use magic of the same elements - Dream, Wood (Plants), and Rock, but each uses these elements differently. Male Kairri possess tall horns through which their magic is concentrated into orbs. They are born with defensive magic, and are very social, forming hierarchical groups at an early age that protect an established, shared territory by uniting their power as a barrier around their home. They are also capable healers. Females, on the other hand, are naturally more adventurous and do not require a herd. They wander freely, armed with offensive magic and are known to wander where Kairri are usually never found, just out of curiosity. They may group together or live solitary lives, joining the males' herds only for healing, breeding season, and sometimes feeding. Other than these differences, the species lacks both sexual dimorphism and sexism does not exist in their culture. They are naturally cautious creatures that have difficulty speaking aloud, relying on subtle telepathy to share images and thoughts, but your average Kairri cannot resist aiding those who need them.
